Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Child Care Curriculum Design

About the role
Dynamic Works Institute is looking for a Subject Matter Expert in child care and early childhood development to support the design and development of online training courses for our CareConnect program.
This is a project/contract-based role focused on curriculum design and course creation, working alongside our team to build training that meets Child Care Regulation (CCR) and Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS) requirements.
What You'll Do
- Contribute subject matter expertise to the design of online child care training modules
- Help develop clearly stated learning objectives and curriculum content aligned to early childhood core competency areas
- Build in applied or experiential activities (scenarios, case examples, reflection exercises) rather than passive reading or recorded content
- Develop knowledge checks and assessments to demonstrate participant understanding
- Ensure content is appropriately scoped by clock hours and aligned to the relevant TECPDS Core Competency Area(s)
- Work with our team to review and approve course content before publication
Who We're Looking For
You’ll need to meet at least one of the following qualifications under CCR:
- Registered with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS) Training Registry
- An instructor teaching early childhood development or a related course at an accredited secondary school, college, or university
- A state agency employee with relevant expertise
- A physician, psychologist, licensed professional counselor, social worker, or registered nurse
- Someone holding a generally recognized credential or documented knowledge relevant to the subject matter
- A child care center director meeting the conditions under §746.1317(a)(6)
- At least two years of experience in child development, early childhood education, or Head Start/Early Head Start, plus either a current CDA credential or an associate degree in child development or a related field
Contract Details
This is a project-based engagement, scoped around the development of specific course modules.
$25-$50 an hour.
