Workplace Essential Skills is Where It’s At!

GetPrepd2According to a three-year study by Leadership IQ, a global training and research company, showed 45% of newly hired employees will fail within 18 months due to poor interpersonal skills.  The study found that 26% of new hires fail because they can’t accept feedback, 23% because they’re unable to understand and manage emotions, 17% because they lack the necessary motivation to excel, 15% because they have the wrong temperament for the job, and only 11% because they lack the necessary technical skills.

Another survey, this one conducted by Adecco, the largest staffing firm in the world, states similar results. Their survey showed “44% of respondents cited soft skills, such as communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration, as the area with the biggest gap.”

Companies are saying candidates are lacking in motivation, interpersonal skills, appearance, punctuality and flexibility.
